Notes on extended travel experiences

It was a turbulent flight from Anchorage. The first big bump really startled Marina and I was reminded of when Falcom was a two year old and we were on a very turbulent Era flight. A woman on the flight was crying, it was such a white knuckler. Falcom was making some noises and I couldn't tell if he was crying and I reached over to hug him and he was not crying! All of that bumping and rocking and rolling was making him laugh hard enough to cry. When we landed in Anchorage he looked at me and said, "It's like the Penguins of Madagascar!" I said, "You've had your fun..." We laughed!

Some people that we meet have important information to give us, even if they don't think they do. On the first leg of our journey, Vince ran into a friend who gave him some medical advice. On the second leg of our trip we sat next to an Alaskan yoga practitioner who explained the importance and restorative benefits of yoga for people with severe back injury.

In Seattle, Vince and I were able to eat a luxurious meal WITHOUT our children. The entire family enjoyed a little separation and conversation without the burden of parents feeling that they have to scold the children and the children not feeling like they had to be told how to act and what to talk about throughout the meal. Yep! My kids are growing!

The plane from Seattle to LAX was full of people with severe bronchial infections. If we become sick with bronchial infections it is because of that flight!

The hotel in LA was perfect! They met us at the door with a smile and then upgraded us to a suite in which we all had our own rooms and individual bathrooms. Wonderful nights sleep.
